Pool Closing Times on the Fourth - Dairy Lou Pool will close at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 4. Still Pond Pool will close at 9 p.m. that day.

Sign up for Adult and Pre-Teen Pool Parties - Registration is under way for the Adult Pool Party (July 19, 7-11 p.m. @ Still Pond Pool) and the Pre-Teen Pool Party (July 30, 6-8 p.m. @ Dairy Lou Pool). Complete the registration form in the July Almanac and return it with your payment, if required, to the Foundation office.

Reminders

Parties at the Pools - All pool members who want to have a party at one of the pools must make arrangements to do so in the Foundation office 7 to 10 days in advance of the date of the party. Your cooperation is much appreciated.

Fourth-Quarter Assessments - Assessments for the fourth quarter of FY08 have been mailed, and payment was due on July 1. A late fee will be assessed if payment is not received by July 30, 2008. Those residents signed up for direct debit will automatically have their accounts charged for this payment.

FY09 Budget - Highlights of the FY09 operating, capital, and capital acquisition budgets were published in the July Almanac. A public budget hearing will be held on Thursday, July 10, during the Financial Advisory Committee meeting to address resident concerns and questions. All residents are invited to attend this hearing in the Still Pond Community Center, 7:30 p.m.

Burglaries, Theft from Vehicles, and Vehicle Tampering on the Rise - The Fairfax County Police Department reports that the number of burglaries, thefts from vehicles, and cases of vehicle tampering rises in the summer. Recently, the tires on a Franklin Farm resident's vehicle were slashed. Please keep your eyes open and report any suspicious activity you witness to the police non-emergency number, 703-691-2131. If you see a crime in progress, call 911.

*************

Please Scoop the Poop - Dog walkers are reminded to be sure to clean up after their pets. Your help in keeping pets off of your neighbors' property and in policing the open space and common areas will keep the farm beautiful for all residents.

Temporary Signs - Directional real estate signs and other temporary signs (yard sales, craft fair, etc.) are only permitted to be posted on weekends (from 6 a.m. Saturday until 6 p.m. on Sunday). Foundation staff will pick up and trash these signs if they are not removed promptly on Sunday evening. Placement of temporary signs must comply with Fairfax County zoning ordinances, and violators are subject to a $200 fine.

Animals Creating Nuisances - Animals are not allowed to trespass on, damage, or destroy another person's property. They are also prohibited from frequently and habitually making loud and objectionable noises. Nuisance animals may be reported to the Fairfax County Police non-emergency number, 703-691-2131.

Please Don't Feed the Geese - Although residents often do so with the best intentions, it is against Foundation regulations to feed the Canada geese that visit Franklin Farm ponds. It is bad not only for the geese (as the bread causes digestion problems) but also for the ponds and the residents of Franklin Farm.
