Froggers Enjoy a Fabulous 2010 Swim Season!

The 2010 Froggers had a wonderful summer season, led by Head Coach Stacey Woods and Assistant Head Coach Katie Goins, who are both Franklin Farm residents and swam on the Frogger team for many years.

Froggers competed in five developmental meets, five league meets, the league Relay Carnival, the IM Tough Meet, the Divisional Championship Meet, and the league’s All Star Meet and also had fun together at potluck dinners, an ice cream social, pep rallies, and on mini-golf and bowling outings.

The team posted a 2–3 record in Red Division dual meets this summer, with wins against Burke Centre and Chantilly Highlands. However, after their last league meet, the Froggers swam their way to a second consecutive winning performance at the Red Divisional Meet. The team took the lead after freestyle and never looked back, finishing over 150 points ahead of the second place Broadlands Piranhas.

This summer, records were broken by 13 year-old John Shebat, by 8-year-old McKenna Witlin, and by the 15-18 boy’s medley relay team of Nick Ransom, Paddy Moynahan, Ryan Moore, and Zach Sturm.

The Froggers sent 22 swimmers to the league’s All Star Meet and had 48 swims that day … more than any other team in the league. There were 11 swimmers who finished in the top six of their events, including Jack Amaral, Dylan Cardelli, Brenna DeBellas, RJ Ganesh, Blake Marcey, Lacy McCleskey, Brooke Ream, John Shebat, Will Stein, McKenna Witlin, and Melissa Shebat, who won the 15–18 girls’ 50-meter breaststroke.
